Michael Floyd's time in Arizona has come to an end.
The Arizona Cardinals have announced that the wide receiver has been cut just days after he was arrested and charged with DUI.
Floyd was arrested early Monday morning after the returned from a road game against the. Head coach Bruce Arians stated publicly that he was exploring ways to punish the struggling wideout.
Floyd's release does come as somewhat of a shock, as the 2012 first round pick blossomed under Arians in recent seasons. Floyd ammassed his lone 1,000-yard season in 2013, and piled up five 100-yard games in the second half of the 2015 season after suffering a thumb injury in training camp. He had 44 receptions for 745 yards and six touchdowns in the last 10 games of 2015.
However, Floyd has struggled in this contract year and is set to hit career lows in receptions (33) and yards (446) this season. He could catch on with another team looking for some depth at the position and will be subject to waivers.
Floyd is probably hoping he gets an opportunity to impress in order to cash in during free agency tis offseason.
