CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora has confirmed today that the New York Giants' longtime head coach Tom Coughlin has stepped down from his head coaching position on Monday.

Coughlin joined the Giants following the 2003 season and finishes with a 102-90 record in New York, leading the club to four postseason appearances and two Super Bowl championships. Coughlin’s teams made the playoffs in four of his first five years, but they’ve missed the postseason in six of the last seven and have a 19-29 record over the last three seasons.

Coughlin’s record of success with both the Giants and the Jaguars, who he coached for eight years, and made the most successful expansion team in NFL history, will surely make him a coach to watch for team's now in search of a new head coach.
