DeMarcus Ware, 35, retired earlier this offseason but at least one NFL team has tried to lure him back. That’s what the former linebacker said during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show this week.
“This is the time to where teams want pass rushers,” Ware said, declining to reveal the team’s name. “And pass rushers, you know, they get hurt during the season. ”
Ware said the team wanted him to play starting Sunday and rush the passer at least 15 times a game. While his playing days are over, Ware said he’s willing to help the team off the field.
Friday night Ware appeared on NFL Network's "Players Only," and was asked if there was one team he would suit up for if he could come back, who would it be?
His answer was genuinely surprising: the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"You know what man...I've always wanted to play for the Steel Curtain." Fans on Twitter took notice:
Ware was voted to nine Pro Bowls, won Super Bowl 50 and recorded 138.5 sacks during his 12 years with the Cowboys and Broncos.
