The Johnny Manziel to the Cowboys' rumours just won't go away. Until now that is.

Asked in an appearance on The Tiki and Tierney Show whether his team would consider adding the free-agent quarterback, Cowboys' executive vice president Stephen Jones vehemently ruled out signing the troubled quarterback.

"No, there's no chance," Jones said. "Obviously Johnny needs to get his hands around his life. He needs to do the things that make him a good person off the field, I think, before he can ever have any chance of being successful in our league."

Manziel has been linked to the Cowboys ever since reports surfaced that owner Jerry Jones had to be talked out of drafting the former Texas A&M star back in 2014.

Taking those ties a step further, the quarterback was recently videotaped stating that he wanted to play for his hometown team. Jones wishes him well as Manziel attempts to get his life in order, but the Cowboys evidently don't have any plans to take a chance on him.

"He's a guy obviously from Texas that we've all followed and had an amazing career there at A&M," Jones added. "Unfortunately, he has some things that are holding him back not only as a football player, but as a person in life. We certainly hope he gets his hands around that because he's obviously a guy that's had some very unique successes in his life.

"When he is able to have his hands around some of his issues that he has off the field, then it usually translates into a success for him on the field. But I hope he is able to get his hands around his life, and at some point if he does, I'm sure he’ll get another chance. But at the moment, it certainly won’t be in Dallas."

Manziel became a free agent this offseason, when the Cleveland Browns elected to part ways after just two years. Numerous off-field issues, including a domestic violence case stemming from a March incident with his ex-girlfriend, as well as his incessant partying, have made him too much of a risk for any team.
