Jameill Showers may not have made the active roster as a quarterback, but he will have a chance to prove his worth at another position.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Dallas Cowboys have elected to promote the former Cowboys' quarterback to the active roster and change his position to safety.
Showers is now set to be a reserve on defense and also play on special teams.
He was expected to step up as quarterback in the preseason after Tony Romo suffered a back injury, but was leapfrogged on the depth chart by rookie sensation Dak Prescott.
