The Dallas Cowboys are already working hard to make improvements at key positions.
On Tuesday, the team reportedly worked out and will sign CFL star wide receiver and kick return ace. The 26-year-old was a standout product at the University of Central Florida but went undrafted in 2013.
He eventually landed with the Denver Broncos, but was waived and released following an injury. He then headed to the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. His breakout campaign occurred with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this year, where he became an invaluable asset.
His CFL career numbers include some production at the wide receiver position (249 yards, one touchdown in 15 games), but it's his ability to return kicks that makes him valuable. With UCF, he averaged 34.2 yards per return which was the best in the nation.
In his CFL tenure, he's returned kicks to the tune of 1,212 yards and two touchdowns on 45 attempts (26.93 ypr).
The Cowboys could be looking to faze out kick returner Lucky Whitehead, who's production has dropped in recent seasons. The Cowboys would rather not use a high draft pick to discover a talented return man, and this move is a win-win for the team.
