It appears the NFL tried to pull a fast one on Le'Veon Bell today.
On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers' running back posted on Twitter that he was "randomly" drug tested by the league on April 20, also known as 420 to the marijuana smokers worldwide.
In 2015, Bell was suspended for the first two games of the season for his incident with then backup running back LeGarrette Blount in the 2014 preseason. Bell was cited for driving under the influence of marijuana and being in possession of 20 grams of marijuana.
Bell tweeted "good luck with that sample" on Tuesday, as he obviously expects a clean test.
While his tweet was likely meant to be a small, joking jab at the situation, there is no doubt the Steelers' have had issues with substance abuse over the past couple of seasons. In addition to Bell's two-game ban in 2015, wide receiver Martavis Bryant has been suspended for the entire 2016 season for substance abuse after missing the first four games of the 2015 season after testing positive for marijuana.
At least Bell is confident all is well with his drug test.
of course I get a "random" drug test on 4/20...good luck with that sample

Coincidence or not, today is the start of the NFL's substance abuse testing period. Runs 4-20 to 8-9.
