The Green Bay Packers continue to try and find some depth in their backfield.
According to PFT, the Packers worked out veteran running back Joique Bell on Tuesday. The team also invited free agent ball carriers James Wilder Jr. and Brandon Wegher, in addition to defensive back Brandon Dixon and defensive end Arthur Miley for workouts.
There were reports that the team planned on signing Bell as soon as Sunday. However, no transaction has been completed as of yet.
The Packers are currently without Eddie Lacy and James Starks, which means they are stuck with undrafted Don Jackson and fullback Aaron Ripkowski in the backfield. Wide receiver Ty Montgomery had been taking snaps at running back, but the team is looking for some new bodies to fill the backfield.
A former regular with the Detroit Lions, Bell most recently spent four games with the Chicago Bears. However, he only saw three carries last season. Bell does not have blazing speed, but has proven to be effective in the NFL.
He recorded a 860-yard, seven-touchdown season with the Lions in 2014.
