One of the biggest blockbuster trades of the season occurred when the New England Patriots sent linebacker Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns for a draft pick. However the Pats tried to pull off an even bigger trade just prior.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Patriots tried to trade Collins to the Houston Texans in exchange for star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The idea of the trade was to swap two big name players with huge extensions on the horizon.

The Patriots also reportedly attempted to acquire Texans cornerback Johnathan Joseph.

The Texans eventually rejected the trade, and New England made the Super Bowl without getting a star in exchange for Collins. Despite sub-par quarterback play from the Texans' pivots, Hopkins still managed to be one of the most productive receivers in the NFL.

He had a down year in 2016 - failing to hit the 1,000-yard receiving mark - but the 24-year-old caught 111 passes for 1,521 yards the season prior.

Can you imagine if he had Tom Brady to throw the ball to him.
