The Pittsburgh Steelers have begun trimming their roster in preparation for the 2016 NFL season.
The Steelers announced on Sunday was that they have waived quarterback Dustin Vaughan after he fractured a bone in his thumb during the team's second preseason game.
The Steelers also cut cut linebacker Jordan Zumwalt linebacker Mike Reilly, wide receiver Issac Blakeney, wide receiver Levi Norwood, tight end Michael Cooper, defensive end Giorgio Newberry, defensive tackle Khaynin Mosley-Smith and cornerback Julian Whigman.
The team also placed fourth-round pick Jerald Hawkins on injured reserve.
The Steelers now have 79 players on the roster that must be lowered to 75 by Tuesday.
