You want to know more about the Cowboys than your friends? Tell them how important special teams are and then bring it up these guys the next time you're at the water cooler:
The best Dallas Cowboy special teamer last season was Lucky Whitehead. You may be surprised because of all his misplays with the ball, but on punts he was the Cowboys best player. Pro Football Focus grades him as a +3.5 on punts. Whitehead is a receiver/running back/returner but is becoming a special teams demon. It's an unsung position but someone has to do it and Lucky is doing it well.
On kickoffs, the Cowboys best player was Byron Jones who also had a very decent year at free safety. Jones graded at +4.0.
A couple Cowboys had pretty bad seasons on special teams with Anthony Brown and Kyle Wilber grading at -4.5 each.
