The Dallas Cowboys will be without the services of left tackle Tyron Smith, who suffered a torn hamstring during Wednesday's practice, for the foreseeable future.
However, the injury appears to be more serious than originally thought. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Smith suffered an "avulsion fracture of the knee", and could be out until December.
"#Cowboys standout LT Tyron Smith actually suffered an avulsion fracture of the knee, meaning the hamstring tendon that sits at the back of the knee pulled off the bone and he needs surgery, sources say. If he’s back at all, it’ll be December. A tough loss."
Smith missed six games last season, and has missed a total of 32 games over the past six seasons. He'll be undergoing surgery later this week.
