Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady officially announced his second retirement from the National Football League earlier this week, and was sure to include that this retirement from the NFL would be permanent.
Of course, he's already had his next professional career move lined up for a while, as it was announced last year that Brady would will joining FOX Sports as their "lead NFL analyst". His contract is quite a hefty one, at ten years and a cool $375 million.
However, don't expect to see him in the broadcast booth just yet. In fact, Brady himself announced that it will be over a year until he takes the new job.
"Talking even last week with the people at FOX Sports, and the leadership there allowing me to start my FOX opportunity in the fall of 2024 is something that's great for me," Brady said while speaking with Colin Cowherd earlier today. "So [I'll] take some time to really learn, become great at what I want to do, become great at thinking about the opportunity and making sure I don't rush anything."
Brady was also sure to include that he was going to spend time "catching up on other parts of my life that need some time and energy."
It sounds like for anyone who was waiting to see him in the booth right away, they'll have to wait until the next calendar year.
