Darren Sproles has been a notable absence from the Philadelphia Eagles' spring activities thus far, and now we may know the reason why.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Eagles received calls of trade interest for the veteran running back since mid-draft, and he has elected to stay away from OTAs until its sorted out.

“This isn’t a situation filled with frustration for Darren Sproles,” Rapoport adds. “But he’s away from the Eagles, with his family on the West Coast now.”

Sproles is in the final year of his three year, $10.5 million deal and will make $3.5 million this season, with the Eagles saving that $3.5 million should they manage to deal him away.

The 32-year old appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles last season, carrying for 317 yards on 83 attempts, adding 55 catches for 388 more yards and four total touchdowns. He had 446 punt return yards and two scores, including an 89 yarder against the Jets, a career best.
