Aaron Rodgers discusses future plans and his vaccination controversy
Rodgers has been an extremely polarizing figure this season.
The Green Bay Packers saw their great season come to a stunning end last night at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, as the visiting squad shocked their hosts with a walk-off field goal as time expired to advance in the NFL postseason and send Green Bay into an uncertain offseason.
Of course, speculation immediately began as to the future plans of potential 2021 NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who's status to play the year with Green Bay was in doubt before he ultimately decided to take the field.
During his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers reiterated a few things regarding what his future has in store.
"One thing I will not do is retire and then come back a year later," he said. "I'm in a really good place with Brian Gutekunst and when it comes time to make a decision we'll have a conversation."
"Everything is definitely on the table," he continued. "There are things that seem more plausible or more likely but first there has to be the commitment to playing."
Rodgers is well aware that whichever decision he makes will have a profound effect not only on the only NFL franchise that he's ever suited up for, but also
"I understand that my decision does impact a number of other people and I wanna be very sensitive to that," he explained. "I'll definitely make a decision sooner than later."
Of course, Rodgers made headlines earlier this season when it was revealed that he'd mislead his team regarding his vaccination status against COVID-19.
"I realize that I've been divisive this season by my vaccination status and my willingness to talk about it," he said. "I take accountability for that and I never wanted to be a divisive polarizing figure on this"
"There were a ton of people rooting against us because of my vaccination status and them wanting to see us lose so they could pile on," he continued. "We knew this was coming down the pipe at some point."
