It was last year that former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick got a chance to prove that he can still play at an NFL level, landing a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders. This came not too long after team owner Mark Davis said that he believed in the former quarterback and was willing to give him a shot.
Of course, that came not long after he participated a much-hyped workout in an attempt to make a return to the pro stage last year. And despite several teams reportedly showing interest, none took a waiver on him. He also missed out on a chance to join the XLF, as they balked at his reported salary demands.
But now, with New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers being lost for the season after suffering a torn Achilles during last night's game, Kaepernick's agent has reached out to the Jets.
Kaepernick became synonymous with social justice reform when, as a member of the San Francisco 49ers, knelt during the national anthem in 2016 to protest police brutality and social inequality. Kaepernick has not seen NFL action since January of 2017 with 49ers. He opted out of his contract in March 2017 and has has been a free-agent ever since.
