Baker Mayfield reportedly threatens the Cleveland Browns
Tell us how you really feel!
Often times when a player who was once a high profile figure on a team gets traded to another franchise, there's going to be some extra motivation for said player to really stick it to the team he once suited up for. And for Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield, that certainly holds true for his Week 1 matchup.
Fans immediately noticed that the Panthers will be taking on Mayfield's former team, the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season. Earlier this offseason, Browns sent the former 2018 1st overall draft selection to Carolina in exchange for a conditional 5th round draft pick. The Browns will also be picking up $10.5 million of Mayfield’s 2022 salary, which comes out at $18 million.
And according to Pro Football Talk, Mayfield recently had this to say to Bills preseason sideline reporter Cynthia Frelund about his facing Cleveland for the first time: "I'm going to f**k them up!"
She explained the exchange during a visit on the Around the NFL podcast:
“I walked up to him and said, ‘I’m so excited to see you, like, go kick some butt,’ I didn’t say that word,” she said. “’Go kick some butt, especially Week One, I like cannot wait.’ And he uses some expletives and I was like, ‘I just hope you’re like ready.’ He was like, ‘I’m gonna bleep them up.'”
Who will come out on top in Week 1 between Mayfield's Panthers and the Browns?
