BREAKING: Arizona WR DeAndre Hopkins slapped with multi-game ban!
That considerably hurts the Cardinals.
Huge news out of the NFL today.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the 2022 season for violating the League's PED use policy. The news was first broken by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals has been suspended without pay for the first six games of the 2022 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances," an NFL spokesperson said in a statement.
"Hopkins is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games. He will be allowed to return to the Cardinals’ active roster following the team’s sixth regular-season game."
According to Schefter, the suspension was known to the Cardinals for some time now, as evidenced by their acquisition of Marquise "Hollywood" Brown from the Baltimore Ravens during the recently-completed NFL Draft.
Last season, Hopkins amassed 572 yards and eight touchdowns. He'll be eligible to return to the team following Week 6.
