The Buffalo Bills are already dealing with the near tragedy suffered earlier this week on Monday Night Football, as safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field during their game against the Cincinnati Bengals; he remains hospitalized in critical condition, though he's reportedly improving.
But in the meantime, there is another shocking story out of the Bills organization to report. Team radio announcer John Murphy, who has been the team broadcaster since 2004, suffered a stroke last weekend. The Bills released the following statement on Twitter:
"John Murphy suffered a stroke last weekend. He is recovering at home with his family and making progress every day. John and the Murphy family are grateful for the excellent care by the staff and doctors at Buffalo General Medical Center. We appreciate everyone's support."
"In the interim Chris Brown will continue to perform play by play duties on the Bills Radio Network.
We look forward to having John back in the booth as soon as possible. Get well soon, John!"
