After speculation on whether or not Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb would be joining the team for voluntary offseason workouts that start this week, his decision has been made public.
According to multiple reports, he will not be participating as a result of the lack of negotiations on a new contract. The Dallas Morning News reported over the weekend that it's the reason why Lamb had a chance of not showing up.
"CeeDee Lamb’s agent haven’t had any substantial talks about a new contract with the Cowboys, a person with knowledge of the situation said," the report said.
Lamb is set to enter the 5th year of his rookie contract that will see him earn a fully guaranteed $17.991 million. And according to team owner and general manager Jerry Jones, he didn't exactly sound committed for Lamb to stick around long term with the Cowboys.
"He's out there, and he's more valuable than anybody else," Jones said of Lamb’s expiring contract. "But that valuable, to have to give up four or five players to have him, you have to get that reconciled. That's what I'm trying to say. It's a lot quicker and easier said than done."
The 1,749 yards that Lamb amassed last season have already broken the franchise record of 1,603 set by team legend Michael Irvin.
What does the future hold for Lamb with the Cowboys? Will a new deal eventually be worked out?
