The Chase Claypool era with the Chicago Bears has officially come to an end.
After a disastrous start to the season that included having to apologize to his teammates for poor effort and a benching, he was traded earlier today by the Bears to the Miami Dolphins as part of a 2025 NFL Draft swap that also includes seventh-rounder to the Dolphins and a sixth-round pick to the Bears.
According to Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, Claypool has a chance to make them better and said that it was an exciting opportunity to be able to acquire him.
“You have to stay steadfast to the commitment of making your team as good as it could be,” McDaniel said. “Sometimes things come across your radar that you weren’t even looking for, but, when you assess it, if it falls under the category this has a chance to make us better then you jump on that.”
“You guys want me to say it, don’t you? He’s fast,” McDaniel said.
Claypool began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was traded to the Bears in November 2022 for what would eventually become the No. 32 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. During his time in Chicago, he managed only 18 catches.
