It was a long and very fruitful NFL career for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who has spent the last 18 years wearing the black and yellow while leading his team to two Super Bowl wins. He's also the franchise leader in wins with 165, home wins with 92, and passing touchdowns with 418.
He called it a career earlier this year after 18 NFL seasons, but does the competitive fire still burn within him? He alluded to a potential comeback recently, saying that he's thought about coming out of retirement to join the San Francisco 49ers, who recently lost quarterback Jimmy Garappolo for the remainder of the year with an injury.
“I thought about it,” Roethlisberger said on his “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger” podcast. “That team is one of the better teams in football and that defense is really stinking good and they did it with Purdy.”
During his final season with the Steelers in 2021, Big Ben completed 64.5% of his passes for 3,740 yards with 22 touchdowns and 10 interception.
