The Dallas Cowboys extended family is in mourning today, as it was announced that Hall of Famer Larry Allen passed away while on vacation in Mexico with his family; he was just 52 years old.

And immediately, there began an outpouring of grief and well wishes from those not only within the Cowboys organization, but from around the football world.

“The National Football League is filled with gifted athletes, but only a rare few have combined the size, brute strength, speed and agility of Larry Allen,” Pro Football Hall of Fame President Jim Porter said Monday. “What he could do as an offensive lineman often defied logic and comprehension.”

Cowboys icon Emmitt Smith recorded a tearful video tribute to his fallen teammate, saying that he was "heartbroken" over the news.

Additionally, Cowboys legend Troy Aikman wrote the following on social media:

"Just received the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved teammate Larry Allen. He was a HOF offensive lineman that dominated opponents regardless of the position played. Off the field, he was a gentle giant that loved his family. Rest in Peace LA 💔🙏"

The reaction from former teammate Tony Casillas says it all:

"Just heard the horrible news about one of the greatest players that’s ever played our game,Larry Allen, RIP gladiator. Honored to have been your teammate. Prayers for his family 🙏🙏❤️"

The Cowboys Hall of Famer certainly made an indelible impact not only on the Cowboys, but on the game itself and will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.
