The Dallas Cowboys may have welcomed back a popular fan favorite with the re-signing of Ezekiel Elliott, but that doesn't mean that they're fully finished adding to their ground attack.
According to writer Dustin Mosher, the Cowboys ought to consider bringing aboard demoted Texans star Dameon Pierce to help round out their running back group.
“The surprise signing of Joe Mixon by the Houston Texans throws a wrench into Dameon Pierce’s role. The Texans also used a draft pick on running back Jawhar Jordan. This logjam could present an opportunity for Dallas.
“Pierce, a physical runner with good receiving ability, could be had for a mid-to-late-round pick. Even with the signing of Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas needs to add more depth to the running back room and Pierce could fill that void at a minimal cost.”
Pierce, who was supplanted as Houston's lead running back last season by Devin Singletary, could potentially be available for trade. And at 24 years of age, he still has a pair of seasons remaining on his current contract.
