The Dallas Cowboys have been owned by the enigmatic Jerry Jones since his purchase of the franchise for $140 million from team owner and friend H.R. “Bum” Bright. Of course, the team is worth a bit more these days.
As "America's Team", the Cowboys are certainly well deserving of their status as the world's most valuable sports franchise. And now, they've just officially made history.
According to Forbes, they're the first sports franchise ever to officially be announced as being worth $8 billion, which is still hundreds of millions more valuable than the next franchise on the list in Major League Baseball's New York Yankees.
However, don't expect Jones to be selling any time soon, despite his recent declaration that he believes he could net $10 billion in a potential sale.
"Let me make this very clear," Jones said. "I'll say it definitively. I will never do it. I will never sell the Cowboys. Ever."
