The Dallas Cowboys got back into the win column yesterday afternoon against the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium, but one of the most key plays of the afternoon came at a steep cost.
Cornerback Jourdan Lewis came up with a huge interception of Lions quarterback Jared Goff in the 4th quarter with his team clinging to a 10-6 lead; they were able to put points on the board immediately afterward, and it was the interception that made it possible. However, Lewis suffere Lisfranc injury in the tackle that followed the interception, and his season is now over. He'll be having surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2022 schedule.
Needless to say, this is a big loss for the Dallas defense.
"He really represents all the things I love about our defense," defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said on Monday. "He's tough. He's smart. He's a dog-ass competitor.
"… There is a dude behind that injury, too, and we'll miss him."
