Dallas Cowboys fans remember Mike Zimmer well from his days when he initially joined the team as defensive backs coach in 1995. He would serve in that capacity before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2000.
He's landed several new jobs since then, with the most recent being the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2014 to 2021 before being terminated just over a year ago by the team. But now, he's back coaching - but in the collegiate ranks.
He'll be joining forces with former Cowboys teammate Deion Sanders at the University of Colorado, though his role is currently unspecified.
“Coach Zimmer’s coming,” Deion said, with the possibility that he’ll be the Buffs’ defensive coordinator. “Forget the titles; (his hires( know this game and they know kids and they’ve been capable of making tremendous decisions with the kids and the young men in mind. So that’s what I adore the most — understanding how to establish the relationships with these young men.”
We certainly wish the former Cowboys coach best of luck in his new role in Colorado.
