Jerry Jones addresses Mike McCarthy's future

The Dallas Cowboys are bringing back head coach Mike McCarthy for 2024, but the report indicates that he'll be playing out the final year of his contract without receiving a new one; a decision will then be made about his future with Dallas after next season.

And while the team continues its search for a new defensive coordinator after the departure of Dan Quinn for the Washington Commanders, Jones stated that he doesn't anticipate the fact that McCarthy is in his final year of his contract will have any hampering on the search. 

"I don't anticipate that being an issue at all," he said. "If they take the job, they will be coordinator of the Cowboys. They would be looking at that right there and all that goes with that. If they're aspiring, they know there's a chance to be a head coach someplace, because the one that just left is."

In each of his last three seasons, he's led the Cowboys to records of 12 wins and five losses, and two of those years included the NFC East Division championship. 

Meanwhile, Jones praised the performance of Quinn during his time in Dallas and said his new job in Washington is well deserved.
