The Dallas Cowboys were able to rebound from last weeks' disappointing loss at the hands of the rival San Francisco 49ers, winning a gritty game against the Los Angeles Chargers last night at SoFi Stadium by a 20-17 final. The Cowboys improved to 4-2, helping to make up a bit of ground in the division which is currently led by the Niners.
However, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones made it abundantly clear that he didn't fully agree with head coach Mike McCarthy's decision near the end of the 1st of half of play to let the clock run down before kicking a field goal - but that he hasn't talked to him about it yet.
“First of all, this is not an impassioned response,” Jones said during his weekly interview on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “But I thought we should’ve tried another pass in the end zone and used the clock accordingly...
“From the perspective I had, [I] thought we might be able to try it there. But I haven’t talked to Mike about the call."
However, Jones is happy with the team's 4-2 record as they enter their bye week before they regroup to face the Los Angeles Rams.
“It was an important win... As I sit where we are today, we’ll take this 4-2,” Jones said. “This offense has a lot of room to be more impactful and more effective and we got some of it at times last night, Mike did.”
Is Jones right to publicly call out his coach like this, or should this matter have been settled behind closed doors and out of the public eye?
