2 weeks ago, Jimmy Garappolo and the 49ers came to a contractual agreement. While a divorce seemed imminent in the off-season, a guaranteed $6.5 million deal with incentives that could raise his salary to nearly $16 million was signed.

Knowing very well that Trey Lance would be the starter this season, the Garappolo camp accepted this contract at the end of August after long negotiations. A contract with a no trade clause and a no tag clause that will allow him to become an unrestricted free agent next season.

ESPN
insider Adam Schefter reported this morning that it appears that the defending Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams were interested in the 31-year-old quarterback's services. He also explains that neither the San Francisco organization nor Jimmy Garappolo knew about it.

The Rams were looking for a back-up QB for Matthew Stafford, who suffered from an elbow problem throughout the offseason.

"It was going to be such a Rams move to make. Sean McVay and Kevin Demoff would have been basking in it."

-Member of the 49ers organization

Despite all the rumours, Jimmy G. confirmed that he is happy with his decision.

"Seeing the other opportunities that were out there and you weigh in the pros and cons of everything. Trust me, there was a lot of back and forth going on just with other teams and what I wanted my future to look like. And so, this is what I wanted."
