It certainly will be an odd sight to see, but it's come to pass.
Denver Broncos legend John Elway is no longer with the organization after having spent 16 seasons with them as quarterback and another ten in the front office. However, this move was reportedly already in the works for some time.
"I've enjoyed the relationship with the Broncos for a long, long time," Elway, 62, said in an interview Tuesday with 9NEWS. "I told Greg I'd be happy to be a resource for him and help in any way that I can. I just wanted the flexibility. They're in great hands. I still plan on being around to watch and be a resource for [CEO] Greg [Penner] or [general manager] George [Paton] if I can."
The Hall of Fame quarterback helped the Broncos to two Super Bowl victories in five total appearances from 1983 to 1998, and was soon enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He also later served as director of player personnel/general manager/executive vice president of football operations for the Broncos from 2011-2020.
