The Pittsburgh Steelers were finally able to get themselves back into the win column in a huge way on Sunday afternoon at home, defeating the New Orleans Saints for their third victory of the season and ending a lengthy losing skid.
However, there was a moment during the third quarter that fans everywhere held their collective breaths. Quarterback Kenny Pickett, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown over the course of the game, was evaluated for an ankle injury in the medical tent. He was also noticeably limping on the sidelines.
But according to the man himself, there is no cause for alarm.
“It feels good,” Pickett said. “I’ll ice it. … I knew I was going to stay in.”
Pickett was far more mobile for the Steelers yesterday, especially after the last game in which he took an astounding eight sacks from the Philadelphia Eagles defense.
“It’s just something that being an athlete growing up, you kind of get a good feel for it,” Pickett said. “I did it at the college level. I feel like I can extend plays at this level long enough to free guys up downfield and take off and get some yardage. It’s just something to be smart about. Get down when I can get down.”
The Steelers will try and keep the momentum going when they host the Cincinnati Bengals at home next week.
