Latest update on Justin Fields is not good

This does not bode well for the upcoming season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers decided to trade quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles, while also allowing Mason Rudolph and Mitchell Trubisky to depart via free agency. Meanwhile, Steelers GM Omar Khan acquired Russell Wilson shortly after he was released from the Denver Broncos, while also signing Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears.

Right now, it appears that the starting job is Wilson's to lose based on reports that Fields hasn't exactly impressed so far in offseason team activities, and according to sources, seems "disengaged":

Meanwhile, the latest update from Mark Kaboly of The Athletic indicates that his accuracy isn't what the team would like it to be:

“Don’t get bent out of shape with Fields finding himself on this list," he wrote. "His talent speaks for itself. But unlike Wilson, he has a lot of obstacles to overcome for an opportunity this year. Fields didn’t get many first-team reps, and that’s significant come training camp. More than that, you can see what made him a first-round pick … and also what made the Chicago Bears move on. The arm strength, speed and playmaking with his legs are undeniable. However, he showed inconsistent accuracy and relied on his feet too quickly after the first read. That stuff can be fixed, but maybe not throughout a training camp.”

Steelers fans, this doesn't exactly bode well for Fields and his early tenure with Pittsburgh. The good news is that there is still plenty of time to improve his performance, as Training Camp is still just over a month away.
