NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky absolutely RIPS the Kansas City Chiefs
Is he right, or is he running out of the end zone on this one?
There's no question - the Kansas City Chiefs are struggling right now. A team pegged as Super Bowl material has faltered out of the gate, losing three of their first five games of the season including two setbacks at the friendly confines of Arrowhead Stadium, arguably the most intimidating venue in the NFL.
The latest setback was a 38-20 setback against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football, dropping them to last place in the AFC West. What's worse is that Kansas City's defense currently ranks dead last in the NFL in points allowed (32.6 per game) and second to last in yards allowed per game (437.4).
And not to pile on, but their 7.1 yards allowed per play is good for the worst in NFL history through the first five weeks of a season, according to Pro Football Reference. Who saw that coming?
ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky took Kansas City to task, putting all on the table and telling it like it is - the Chiefs are simply a bad football team at the moment.
“The truth hurts, but the truth is a necessity. The Chiefs are a bad football team right now,” Orlovsky explained yesterday during his appearance on Get Up Monday morning. “Their offense has the fifth-most penalties in football. They got 11 turnovers. That’s tied with the Jaguars. And they can’t stop anyone on defense.”
“This defense gives up more yards per play than the greatest offense in the history of the NFL. That is BAD. The Chiefs are a bad football team,” he continued. “And until they fix those things that we notoriously align with bad football teams, they will continue to be a bad football team.”
Orlovsky is correct regarding that sobering statistic. Just take a look for yourself below:
Both sides of the ball are struggling in Kansas City right now. Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes now has as many interceptions through five games - six - as he had all of last season, which is absolutely incredible.
The Chiefs are going to attempt to get back into the win column to the .500 mark when they pay a visit to the nation's capital to take on the Washington Football Team next Sunday.
