One of the most infamous figures in sports history has offered a shockingly tone-deaf take on the season-ending injury for New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who suffered a torn Achilles just four plays into his debut on Monday night.
Simpson had the following to say about Rodgers injury, which occurred one day prior to the 22nd anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
“Unfortunately, 9/11 is just a bad day for New York," Simpson said with a laugh during an appearance on Cam'ron and Mase's "It Is What It Is" podcast.
Shortly before his injury, Rodgers made a dramatic entrance to the field at MetLife Stadium, holding an American flag:
Simpson spent 10 years in prison after being convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas in 2008. He was also of course infamously acquitted for the brutal 1994 slayings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman, for which he was the prime suspect.
