The two sides were said to have a deal ready by this afternoon, and it's now official.
The Dallas Cowboys and veteran offensive tackle Jason Peters have officially agreed upon a contract, bringing him aboard for a 20th NFL season. He's previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was named to multiple Pro Bowls. He's also played for the Chicago Bears.
Meanwhile in a corresponding move, defensive end Mika Tafua has been released in order to facilitate the move.
"This is about adding depth and bringing another excellent player into your program," head coach Mike McCarthy said.
"Obviously you have a tremendous amount of respect for what Jason has accomplished throughout his career," McCarthy continued. "Going back, watching the video of his time with Chicago, it's definitely an opportunity of mutual interest. He'd love to finish his career here in Texas. We had a chance to visit late last week and through the weekend.
"He'll line up (in practice Monday) and we'll bring him along a little more slowly. Just do the individual (drills)."
