Photographer suffers fractured spine after fall at Rams parade
Matthew Stafford is drawing criticism for just walking away after the fall.
The Los Angeles Rams held their Super Bowl championship parade yesterday, and there was one major incident that's been drawing attention away from the sparse crowds that turned out.
A photographer was taken to the hospital with a fractured spine after she accidentally fell off the stage while taking a photo. The stunning video shows Kelly Smiley taking a tumble after taking a few steps back on the stage, which apparently she didn't realize that she was on the edge of.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has drawn some criticism for simply turning around and walking away, while his wife Kelly was clearly horrified by the accident and immediately went to check on Smiley.
A Go Fund Me has been set up and in less than 10 hours, over $14,000 was raised to help cover her medical expenses, which she later described as a fractured spine on Twitter:
The Stafford family and the Rams have since released a statement in which they say they'll be paying for her medical expenses as well as her camera equipment:
