Report: Dallas Cowboys trying to trade OL La'el Collins!
It sounds like it's going to be a transitory offseason for the Cowboys!
On top of the reports that the Cowboys are expected to soon be parting ways with wide receiver Amari Cooper as well as DeMarcus Lawrence rejecting the team's request that he take a pay cut, it sounds as though the team could be soon losing another starter.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys are in "active" trade discussions with starting offensive tackle La'el Collins.
He writes:
"The #Cowboys are having active trade conversations centered around starting OT La'el Collins, sources say. A mainstay since 2015, Collins is due $10M this coming year and there is interest from other teams."
Collins played collegiately at Louisiana State University, winning the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the Southeastern Conference's (SEC) top offensive lineman. He would later sign with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2015, where he has played the first several seasons of his NFL career. Last year in 2021, he appeared in 12 games while starting 10.
He missed the entire 2020 season with a hip injury that eventually required surgery.
With a trade, the Cowboys would save $13.95 million of the $15.25 million that Collins would count against the salary cap.
