Report: Dwayne Haskins was legally drunk at time of death
More information has come to light regarding his tragic passing.
The sports world experienced a stunning loss last month, as former Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers QB Dwayne Haskins was killed after being struck by a dump truck while walking on Interstate 595 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Haskins was pronounced dead at the scene; he was only 24 years of age.
The 911 phone call which was recently released confirmed more tragic details of the shocking incident, that Haskins was running across the highway to retrieve gas after his car had run out. But now, more information has come to light.
According to the toxicology report released by the office of the Broward County Medical Examiner on Monday, Haskins was legally drunk at the time that he was fatally struck by a dump truck.
The investigation report states that a Pittsburgh Steelers official told the medical examiner's office that Haskins went to dinner with a friend or cousin, and later, a nightclub - "possibly in Miami."
"They drank heavily and at some point, they got into a fight, separating," the report states.
The report later explains that according to the toxicology report, one samples of blood from revealed a blood-alcohol level of .20, another fluid level at .24; the legal blood alcohol content limit in Florida is .08. He also was found to have ketamine and norketamine in his system.
Haskins, who played collegiately with the Buckeyes, would be drafted by the Washington Football Team in 2019 before signing with the Steelers last year.
