While most Pittsburgh Steelers fans would prefer that the team move on from maligned offensive coordinator Matt Canada, a newly released report indicates that they could lose their defensive coordinator instead.
Teryl Austin has been listed as a candidate to take over as the next head coach for Syracuse University after they made the call to fire Dino Baber. Pete Thamel of ESPN has listed Austin as one of the potential candidates to replace Baber, along with Doug Marrone, Jason Candle, Bronco Mendenhall, Tony White, Curt Cignetti, Al Golden, Bob Chesney, Sean Lewis, and Liam Coen.
From 1996 to 1998, Austin served as a defensive assistant with Syracuse. He would make his way to Pittsburgh in 2019 as a defensive assistant and secondary coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator after the retirement of Keith Butler.
