Earlier today, the Seattle Seahawks organization announced that they were moving on with head coach Pete Carroll.
As reported by ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Seahawks have decided to change direction and will start next season with a new head coach. However, Carroll is staying with the team but with an unspecified advisory role. Carroll mentioned that they "mutually agreed to set a new course."
"I want to make sure that that's clear as things have shifted so quickly in most people's perspective. It's been an honor and a thrill to be part of this program and I've loved every minute of it. You've watched me love it."

Known for wearing the ultimate dad shoe, the white Nike Air Monarch, Carroll coached Seattle for 14 seasons, led them to 10 playoff appearances and a Super Bowl championship in 2014. He is the winningest coach in Seahawks history.
Schefter reported that during a press conference today Carroll sounded as though he could still be interested in a coaching job.
Seattle missed the playoff this season, but finished with a winning record of 9-8.
Many Seahawks players and ex-players honoured him today on social media.
