With the 2023 NFL Draft officially in the books for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team is hoping that the seven selections that they made will all eventually play a role in their future successes. For those who are unfamiliar, take a look at their full list of picks:
Broderick Jones - Offensive Tackle - Round 1
Joey Porter Jr. - Cornerback - Round 2
Keeanu Benton - Defensive Lineman - Second Round
Darnell Washington - Tight End - Third Round
Nick Herbig - Linebacker - Fourth Round
Cory Trice Jr. - Defensive Back - Seventh Round
Spencer Anderson - Offensive Lineman - Seventh Round
And according to comments made by general manager Omar Khan, he received several trade offers from teams who were looking to move up to the 32nd overall pick.
“I think what surprised me a little bit, we’ve never been in that situation, but in the second round when we had the first pick, I thought there were going to be maybe two or three teams interested in moving up and being in the first position, but I was surprised how many teams,” Khan explained. “It was like eight or nine teams that were interested and we had some good offers. But in the end we decided that we’d better stay there, we selected Joey Porter Jr., who was a player that we were really interested in.”
However, Khan declined to elaborate exactly which teams he was getting calls from or what their offers were.
