Trill Williams out for the season after impressive training camp

It is less common to see a player who was released for failing a physical test find himself work the following season. However, some rare pearls break through the ranks by their talent or simply by a lack of the team in this position.
This is the case of cornerback Trill Williams who impressed many during training camp. The Miami Dolphins also needed reinforcements at this position since Byron Jones is on the injured list, so they called for this one.
“It’s one of the hard things about the profession that I really struggle with when I see that happen to someone. He’s proven time and time again that things of that nature won’t keep him back over the long haul. The challenge is to make that thing happen for a good reason and come back stronger and better. But it’s something that hurt the hearts of the whole team, myself included."
-Mike McDaniel, head coach
As reported by TSN, it was during the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that the 22-year-old tore a cruciate ligament in his left knee. An injury that will keep him out of the game for the rest of the season.
“You hate to see an injury like that for a guy that’s been working as diligently as Trill has.”
-Mike McDaniel
The Dolphins organization will therefore have several decisions to make since the options are increasingly complicated to fill the position. Free agent veterans who are still not under contract as well as other rookies will be among the available choices.
