While the Pittsburgh Steelers are on the outside looking in this year at the NFL postseason, they can hang their hats on the fact that they persevered through adversity and a rough start, ultimately emerging with a winning record at 9-8 and giving head coach Mike Tomlin yet another winning season.
And thanks to his efforts during the year, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has been named First-Team Associated Press All-Pro for the third time in his career. With six interceptions, he was tied for the NFL lead; the first such time that a Steelers player has led the NFL in picks since Mel Blount accomplished the feat all the way back in 1975.
He also added 96 tackles; 56 of them solo.
"I think I put a lot of hard work, energy and effort in," said Fitzpatrick. "I played through a lot this year. I'm appreciative of the guys. I don't like saying I, but what I've provided to the team, what I gave of myself to the team."
What a year it was for Fitzpatrick, and the Steelers are certainly fortunate to have him!
