Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson made the rounds on social media, drawing a considerable amount of criticism thanks to his stunning lack of effort in recovering a fumble during Pittsburgh's last game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The good news for Pittsburgh is that they were able to earn the win, bouncing back from a disappointing result the previous week. And to his credit, Johnson issued an apology to his teammates for the play.
However, he's been sent home by the team after come down with an illness, and according to reports, he may have to miss Pittsburgh's next game, which comes at Acrisure Stadium this Sunday against the visiting Arizona Cardinals.
The news was first reported by Trib Live's Joe Rutter:
"Diontae Johnson did not practice Thursday for the Steelers. Nothing nefarious in relation to what transpired in Cincinnati. He was sent home with an illness."
