Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his current contract, and there has been rampant speculation as to whether or not he'll remain with the Cowboys beyond this season.
In the words of team CEO Stephen Jones, who is the son of team owner and general manager Jerry Jones, it will require an adjustment of Prescott's salary cap number.
“I’ve never known Jerry (Jones) not to be all-in in any given year, but certainly we’ve got a great, I think great team put together,” he said. “The last three years (we’ve) won a lot of football games — I think 36 — and I think certainly, where we have to improve is the postseason.
“We gotta get the right kinda guys who step up and make big plays in the postseason. It’s been a challenge in terms of our success there, and that’s where we have to improve.”
“We got ways to adjust his cap number for this season,” Jones said of Prescott. “Obviously between Dak and Micah (Parsons) and CeeDee (Lamb), the salary cap is real for us. We want to do deals with all three of them. Do you get to do everything you want to do with the salary cap? I don’t think any team does. But we’re certainly going to be able to go out and go to work and get the things done that we feel like we need to get done to be successful.”
