An arrest warrant was issued for Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon for aggravated menacing, but that appears for now that those charges have been dismissed.
For those unfamiliar with the story, Mixon allegedly brandished a weapon at a female victim on January 21 and told her, "You should be popped in the face, I should shoot you, the police can't get me."
However, officials from the Cincinnati City Prosecutor's Office have asked a judge to dismiss the charges, and it was done. That doesn't mean that he's completely out of the woods, though.
“The city will be requesting dismissal of this case,” the city representative said in a video from WCPO journalist Taylor Nimmo's Twitter page. “We’re requesting dismissal because we need additional investigation before we would move forward with this case. The Cincinnati police department were able to get in contact with the victim. She understands the need to get more information for this case and the potential that we could refile it at a later date. She does still want to go forward with this charge if we do decide to refile it.”
According to Mixon's representative Peter Schaffer, the entire situation was a "rush to judgement".
