Tampa's Mike Evans didn't believe Tom Brady was un-retiring

He threw us all off track!

Arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history, 44 year-old Tom Brady made the decision to call it a career earlier this year after his Tampa Bay Buccaneers were defeated by the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in their divisional postseason matchup. However, that retirement lasted only a few weeks, as Brady suddenly pivoted and announced his intentions to return in 2022 to once again suit up for the Bucs.

However, his own teammate had trouble believing him at first. Wide receiver Mike Evans, who caught what would have been Brady's final touchdown pass during the postseason, thought Brady wasn't being serious when he texted to say he was coming back after all.

"I didn't think he was really coming back," Mike Evans told KPRC 2 Houston. "I thought he was just playing around."

Of course, that football would eventually sell at auction for over $500,000. Brady sent Evans an article detailing the sale, joking that he should have kept the ball for himself.

"I just laughed," Evans continued, "and I said, 'To my defense I didn't know you were going to retire.'"

Evans then explained that Brady sent an additional text stating that "There's more touchdowns in our future."
