Tua Tagovailoa may have suffered ANOTHER brain injury

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa already suffered a frightening concussion earlier this season, and it was even scarier on the surface after a complete lack of oversight by the Dolphins organization allowed Tagovailoa to even resume playing. 

And despite numerous pleas for him to call it a career in order to avoid further injury, he returned after just three weeks of absence. But now, it sure looks as though he may have suffered yet another concussion during yesterday's game against the Green Bay Packers.

It wasn't long until the NFL and NFLPA released a joint statement regarding their investigation into how the Dolphins have handled the concussion problems of their star quarterback. The statement in full reads: 

“The NFL and NFLPA concluded their joint review of the application of concussion protocol involving Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers,” the statement explains. “The joint review determined the protocol was not triggered. The protocol is initiated when a player receives an impact to the head and exhibits or reports signs or symptoms suggestive of a concussion. The review established that symptoms of a concussion were neither exhibited nor reported until the following day at which time the team medical personnel appropriately evaluated and placed Mr. Tagovailoa in the concussion protocol.”

“It’s not fair to Tua to label him as concussion-prone, and he does not have to retire,” wrote Nowinski, a former Harvard football player who has never examined Tagovailoa. “A cluster of concussions, or even long-term symptoms, does not prevent a successful return or long career. “Remember a decade ago when people were predicting Sidney Crosby would need to retire after fighting concussions? He’s still playing…. Tua’s been playing football a long time and never had issues” with concussions before this season.” Nowinski said “Tua should not play again this season. Full stop. But the Dolphins should make the playoffs, which could give Tua enough time to become asymptomatic and clear the concussion protocol….
