The name of Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Tom Brady has been in the news lately for several reasons but primarily for his romantic relationship with model Gisele Bündchen. While the couple seems to be on the verge of separating, Brady continues to play football and carries out some professional projects in parallel.

As ESPN reported, his latest project was to acquire part ownership of a pickleball league. He acquired this share jointly with the retired tennis star, Kim Clijsters.

Until recently, the MLP was successful in attracting LeBron James as a team owner as well as Drew Brees, Draymond Green, Kevin Love and Maverick Carter as investors.

Joining an ownership group named Knighthead Capital Management, TB12 and Clijsters are excited about that big opportunity. They can help other athletes and bring their expertise in a developing sport.

"Of course, I'm excited at the investment opportunity. But what excites me the most about becoming an MLP owner is that I get to help shape the future of pickleball, a sport I have come to love, with great people -- who also happen to be some of my best friends. I'm thrilled to help showcase professional pickleball and make an impact on the sport through my experience gained in the top levels of professional tennis."

Founded in 2021, the league now features 16 teams and 6 annual competitions. Major League Pickleball ended their season this weekend in Columbus, Ohio.
